Undergraduate students may submit funding requests for financial support for senior thesis research, study abroad, and group events (conferences, book clubs, lectures, and other projects). However, the Center does not support language study in any capacity and no longer provides funding for independent internships. Most projects will not be fully funded, so we highly suggest that you apply to other funding sources in your application.

To be considered, students must apply online on the SAFE portal:

http://www.princeton.edu/studentfunding/

The funding office for the CCC is PIIRS. Please find the Paul and Marcia Wythes Center on Contemporary China within the search results.

Guidelines and Requirements:

  • Proposals must be received at least 4 weeks prior to the date when funding is needed;
  • All proposals must specify the contemporary China-related component of the event and/or project;
  • A faculty advisor recommendation must be submitted;
  • Individual students must be in good standing with the university;
  • The student or group requesting funding must be directly connected to Princeton University.

Please note that the project must be primarily focused on some academic study about aspects of contemporary China.  Senior theses or group events that are, for example, primarily a cultural or artistic examination of some aspect of China, do not fit into the rubric of contemporary China study. Projects that only tangentially relate to the study of contemporary China also do not fit into the rubric of contemporary China study. Such applications will not receive funding. Any student groups requesting funding must be open to all Princeton University students interested in supporting the group’s mission, regardless of identity, such as race, sex, ethnicity, national origin, or other protected characteristics.
