Dr. Duoduo Xu’s research centers on educational inequalities in Chinese societies, including Hong Kong, mainland China, Macau, and Taiwan. She employs various quantitative methods to analyze school-based survey data, aiming to address the causal impacts of education policy, migration/immigration, and family background on the educational outcomes of children and youths. Dr. Xu has been working closely with Prof Xiaogang Wu on some large-scale projects, such as the Hong Kong Panel Study of Social Dynamics (HKPSSD), and Beijing College Student Panel Survey (BCSPS). Currently, they are working on a new project on Early Childhood Investment and Intervention (ECII) in Hong Kong.
